AYEYARWADDY RIVER

Ayeyarwaddy is the most beautiful and the longest river in Myanmar, also one of the greatest rivers of Asia and one of the world famous rivers as Nine River. The Ayeyarwaddy is the cultural and economic lifeline of Myanmar as the Nile River. She belongs to all of Myanmar nation. And also she owns beauty of nature and value of the biodiversity. There are many interesting places to see along the river and many things to do in the river. Along the river we can see many gold mines and their workers, fisher men, many bamboo and timber rafts, timber camps with elephants taking baths at sunset and many local travelers by many different rafts and boats. And also, on the both sides of the river, there are many interesting places as farming, planting, pottery villages, elephant camp, historical sides, ancient capitals and the way of life of many different people. The Ayeyarwady is very famous not just for having her own natural beauty and her biodiversity but also for being the cultural center of the Myanmar people.
 

WHEN & HOW TO VISIT ?

It is quite difficult to say what time is the best to travel on the river Ayeyarwaddy. She is always beautiful and flow regularly from north to south. From October to April will be the best time to travel on the river. The best way to travel on the river is by boat. If you want to enjoy the natural beauties of the River, your visit should be started from Myintzone, the point of confluence of two rivers in Kachin State. It is near Myintkyina, the capital of Kachin State. The best way to see the river is to fly to Myintkyina first and then downstream from the point of confluence of Mahka and Malikha rivers through her second defile, the most beautiful place of this river, to Ayeyarwaddy delta region by boat. If you want to turn your trip into something different, you can make a famous Ayeyarwaddy dolphin-watching tour nearby Mandalay. It is now growing in popularity.
