DAWE

Located 680 km south of Yangon is accessible only by flight (about 55 minutes) as for international travelers. It is a second largest city in Tanintharyi Division. Although not so busy as Myeik, there are many ancient Buddhist and Hindu temples and Pagodas in the City.

 

 

 

 

MYEIK (Mergui)

Myeik, situated on the Thanithayi coast, offers an ideal holiday climate. It is about 870 km south of Yangon, about an hour by air from Yangon. It is the city of islands, called Mergui archipelago, the second largest city in Taninthayi Division. Being a one of the major seaports, the harbors are always busy with a lot of cargo ships, fishing vessels and ferry boats. Watching the view of sunset in Mergui archipelago from Thein Daw Kyi pagoda hill is also an unforgettable experience.

 

KAWTHAUNG

Kawthaung is located near the Thai-Myanmar border. It is also the gateway to Myeik archipelago in southernmost part of Myanmar and over 800km from Yangon. It is most importance coastal city. The town was built by the British and named Victoria Point. On the Cape of Victoria Point stand the statue of Bayintnaung, one of the best-known and ablest kings of Myanmar. With Kawthaung and Ranong in Thanland being separated by The Perchan River, most tourists can easily reach there from Ranong across the river by small long tail boats, lasting about 30 minutes from Ranong, the border town in Thailand. There are regular flights from Yangon to Kawthaung and it takes about 1½ hours. Entry visas on arrival, valid for 28 days, are issued in Kawthaung for international tourists who want to visit Southern part of Myanmar and spend their holidays in Mergui Archipelago. Ranong can be reached from Phuket by mini bus about 3 hours. There are also flights from Bongkok to Ranong. On the Cape of Victoria Point stand the statue of Bayintnaung, one of the best-known and ablest kings of Myanmar.

 

MYEIK ARCHIPELAGO

Made up of over 800 islands, the scenic beauty of the Island ranks with the most famous anywhere, and it is one of the world's top ten dive sites. It is interesting for its gorgeous unspoiled scenery and many amazing unexplored dive sites. Magnificent locations regarded as world famous dive sites make these islands ideal for diving. Mergui Archipelago is one of the places for the visitors who want to spend their vacation with snorkeling, kayaking, Scuba Diving, Jungle trekking in the tropical rain forests on the islands, sport fishing, birds and wild life watching and study to the way of life of the Sea Gypsy (Morken) people. The caves, beautiful white sandy beaches, crystal clear water, green tropical forest and sea gypsy will make you want to stay a few days.
