PUTAO
Putao is a small town located in the northern most part of
Myanmar. Surrounded by snow peaked mountain, it has cool weather
the whole year round. Putao is a wonderful vacation spot which
is become more popular with international tourists who are
discovering for themselves its wonderful scenery, splendid
climate. If you are looking for something different with the
exotic atmosphere, you will like Putao. It is also the nearest
town to the base camp for the climbing of Mt. Khakhaborazi (5889
meters), which is the highest mountain not only in Myanmar and
but also in Southeast Asia. The main places of interest to the
international hikers are Mt. Phonganrazi, Mt. Phangranrazi, Mt.
Phonyinrazi, Mt. Madweyarzi, and Mt. Khakhaborazi. Other places
worth seeing are Kaungmulone Pagoda, Machanbaw village,
Shangaung village, Mulashidi bridge, Namkhan village, Ziyadam
village, Wasandam village, Shangaung village, Tahaungdam
village.
MYITKYINA
Myitkyina is the largest town in Kachin State. From Myitkyina
visitors can take a trip to the confluence (Myitson) of Maikha
and Malikha, the source of the Ayeyarwaddy River. There are
regular flights from Yangon and Mandalay to Myitkyina. Places of
interest in Myitkyina are Manaw-compound where the famous Manaw
festival is held, Karanenaw, Morning Market. You should take a
trip to Indawgyi Lake, the biggest lake in Myanmar, Time
permitting. Crusing down the mighty river Ayeyarwaddy through
the beautiful second defile between Myitkyina-Bhamaw and Katha
is a fascinating way to observe scenery of this river. The most
stretch winds through the romantic second defile, which is a
famous attraction especially at blossom-time. It is recommended
to take only downstream.
