Myanmar Elephant Riding

There are many ranges of mountains thickly covered with forests in Myanmar and it is a country that has a lot of elephants. The elephants are mainly used for the timber production, but because of the developed Myanmar Ecotourism, they have been also utilized for foreign tourists in elephant ridings. At the elephant camps, one can enjoy riding on the elephant, the ways of life of elephants and their mahouts, the elephants’ workers, as well as taking a rest in the forests at the same time.

Myanmar’s well-known elephant camps are Ngwesaung Elephant Camp near the Ngwesaung beach, Mahamyaing Elephant Camp which is 72 miles far from Yangon, Phokyar Elephant Camp that is 204 miles away from Yangon, the camp in Alaungdaw Kathapha National Park, 148 miles from Mandalay.

Alaungdaw Kathapha National Park is the best sight for those who are interested in soft adventure trips and who want to go on safari through elephant ridings. For those who have problems to go to the above cited camps for elephant ridings, the alternatives can be made in such places as Yangon Zoological Garden, Hlawka Park and the Botanical Garden in Pyin Oo Lwin, 42 miles to the north-east of Mandalay. That can also be done by nature in and around in Tanaing city, 120 miles to the north-west of Myitkyina, the capital of the Kachin State.

As the Myanmar saying goes, “ Ride elephants for longevity “, you are warmly and cordially welcomed to do elephant ridings in Myanmar as following programs.
